Annual Honey Bee Festival

The Annual Transvaal Honey Bee Festival is a non-profit event I organize to raise awareness of bees' essential role in sustainable communities. Through engaging activities such as performance, workshops, demonstrations, art, and bee-inspired food & drink, the festival encourages and inspires everyone to contribute to a greener future in their neighborhoods.

Festival Highlights: Visitors are welcomed with a free honey-tasting table featuring local honey from Amsterdam neighborhoods including De Pijp, IJburg, Sarphatipark, Osdorp, De Baarsjes, Rivierenbuurt, Zeeburg, and more, celebrating local beekeepers and highlighting the importance of organic planting. Visitors were both surprised and delighted by the diverse flavors of Amsterdam honey and learned where they could purchase it locally.

Local beekeepers are on-site to answer questions and share tips on creating bee-friendly spaces.

The latest festival attracted over 250 attendees who enjoyed the positive, fun atmosphere, including a popular free workshop on making medicinal honey-herb blends for winter. Another festival feature, the "Bee Library," which began with a local gardener's book collection, has evolved into the "Green Library." Now open every Sunday, it provides eco-conscious readers with a community-centered resource for sustainability.
