About Eva DeCarlo
Eva DeCarlo was born and raised in New York. Her career began in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, having earned an undergraduate degree in art and completed graduate studies at SUNY Buffalo’s Center for Media Studies under the auspices of Steina & Woody Vasulka and Nam June Paik, who as an on-going mentor became a major inspiration and support in her development as a young artist. As a member of Collaborative Projects, (Colab) her ‘nest’ series were featured in landmark exhibitions such as “The Times Square Show”, kicking off a career exploring nature in the urban environment.
Her talent and curiosity have brought her many diverse assignments from top film & fashion styling (a.o. Robert Mapplethorpe, Joyce Tenneson), styling & set design for such diverse projects as the 1989 Pirelli Calendar and the kick-off campaign with Karl Lagerfeld for Chloe, to 18th century leather boot restoration to orchestrating an annual Honey Bee festival. She has recently added curating, public garden design, and many creative community projects to her resume. Her research, ideas and aesthetics have led to award winning projects & publications. Since the 1980's her installation art, sculpture, and jewelry pieces have been exhibited internationally.
Eva is currently living and working in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
